Physical Characteristics

The physical characteristics of vampires differ based on which class of vampire they belong to. They have superhuman physical abilities but have absolutely no ability to cast magic of any kind. In fact magic energy weakens them, and as sunlight is one of the primary sources of magic energy it agitates them and makes them experience discomfort. It’s not technically the light that harms them, but the aetherial energy that accompanies direct exposure to the sun. However over many centuries of hiding from the light, they have developed a sensitivity to light and superior night vision. They can breed with humans and both elf variants to make lesser vampires. Lesser vampires are not as strong as pureblood vampires but are also not as greatly affected by sunlight. They do have a stronger thirst for blood making them more dangerous to be around. Vampires have lifespans relative to their blood purity. Purebloods are effectively immortal, while Lesser vampires of direct pureblood descent can live up to 800 years, or if they are half elven descent 1600 years for high elves and 1200 years for dark elves. Vampires of elven descent will inherit the same physical characteristics of their human hybrid analogues except for red eyes and fangs. They can sense magic but cannot cast it. They have lesser physical abilities of their human based lesser vampire counterparts.

Pureblood Vampires

Pureblood vampires look no different from humans, aside from their red eyes and fangs. They possess abilities far beyond all other vampire classes and are effectively immortal. Pureblood vampires can turn humans and elves into minor vampires if they bite them. Other vampires do not have this ability. The transformation into a minor vampire is nothing but pain and suffering, and minor vampires have an unquenchable thirst that usually ends up in them going insane. Purebloods used to not care about the suffering of their victims, but then a tradition of extracting the blood from their victims into a glass then drinking it was considered of higher class. Now days all purebloods follow this code of conduct and it helps maintain their position at the top of vampire society. Lesser vampires might follow this conduct if they are very conscious about their class and manners but otherwise do not bother. Purebloods can almost instantly (30 seconds or less) heal any wound and even regrow limbs and organs.

Lesser Vampires

Minor vampires are not affected by sunlight however. They are not sensitive to magic. Lesser vampires have very fast healing but not instant, it would take a lesser vampire a day or two to heal a severe wound. Lesser vampires also cannot regrow limbs or organs.

Mental Characteristics

Vampires have a compulsive lust to drink blood, the mere sight of the color red is enough to make them feel this strong thirst. They also are egotistical and proud by nature and have a strong desire to accumulate physical wealth and power. They tend to acknowledge those who are stronger then them and will form social hierarchies with the strong having higher standing then the weak. Pureblood vampires have above average intelligence, this does not apply to lesser vampires however.
