Fairy

Bodies of sentient etherial energy that is fully sentient, granting them emotion and empathy. Fairies can take the form of any race, even animals. They normally appear as small winged humanoids that resemble elves. However they may look different if they are partial to a race they are exposed to often. In the case of humans, a fairy can make themself look just like a normal human, however they will always appear cute or handsome. Fairies do not have gender and instead shape their gender based on their characteristics. They very easily become attached to people or animals they spend alot of time with due to their empathetic nature.

Since fairies are purely etherial they can merge with objects and manupulate their physical nature and increase their effectiveness. They may also merge with living beings to enhance their power but this can rapidly drain them and the beings they merge with. When merged the fairy and being will share memories, thoughts, and feelings making it a very intimate experience. Fairies can be sealed or bound to objects, still allowing them to materialize outside the object but being limited to a small range around the object.

They are fully aware of every minute disturbance in the magical field, and can feel every little shift in it. However they are not hypersensitive like the kitsune. They can cast the most intricate spells of any sentient being but are limited to the weakest spell strength.

Dark Fairies are like normal fairies but their nature has become a scrambled chaotic mess. They are unpredictable and dangerous. They may love someone one minute but then hate them and try to kill them the next. Dark Fairies will have darker colors and more distorted features that can vary wildly. Their magic is also chaotic, even they do not know completely what they will end up casting. Dark Fairies will slowly degrade into more chaotic states until they become a semi-sentient etherial monster. They are also capable of corrupting other fairies.

Small doses of chaotic energy can be resisted. Large doses of chaotic energy will rapidly transform the fairy into a dark fairy. If the chaotic energy is woven into a spell it can infect a fairy and slowly turn them into a dark fairy.

Most fairies were created by highly skilled beings of immense power, but some were formed naturally. Celestial Fairies are fairies who were created in outer space or on other worlds and usually consist of a vast amount of energy. They are also far more intricate in design then regular fairies. They are responsible for the creation of almost all other fairies. The two notable celestial fairies related to Amestria are Celestia and Ragnaroth. Ragnaroth created some fairies who are inherently evil to serve him. These evil fairies are not the same as dark fairies.
