Physical Characteristics

Noble vampires inherit the appearance of their non-vampiric lineage, be it pure human or a human-elf mix. Their appearance is dictated by the standard interbreeding rules laid out by the non-vampiric races involved. They will always have red eyes and fangs (retractable). Noble vampires can live up to 800 years regardless of non-vampiric origins and only start to visually age past the halfway point of their life. They will always have a body that is attractive to humans or one of the elven races depending on the predominant race in their non-vampiric lineage. Noble vampires also excrete a pheromone from their skin that causes the race of their non-vampiric lineage to be attracted to them. Noble vampires are twice as strong as their non-vampiric lineage, but are no where near as strong as a pureblood vampire. They have more control over their blood lust then minor vampires, but will start to lose control when they get even a little thirsty. Noble vampires have an affinity for the blood that their non-vampiric lineage mainly consists of. If they get injured, they can heal wounds that would normally take weeks or months to heal in a matter of days. This process consumes a lot of blood and will make them considerable thirsty during the process. While a noble vampire is sensitive to sunlight, it is not as uncomfortable for them as a pureblood vampire and they are able to be in the sun for short periods of time without significant discomfort (they are usually still nocturnal however). Noble vampires require a small amount of regular food and water in addition to blood in order to survive, and if they are denied food and water but still have blood can endure hunger and dehydration far longer then their non-vampiric lineage. When a noble vampire dies, their body will slowly decay into gray dust (1 day).

Vampiric Blood

Noble vampires have a blood purity of anywhere between 99% and 50%. The relative power of their abilities is proportional to their blood purity, however even a noble vampire with a blood purity of 99% is limited to the mentioned physical capabilities on this page and will never be anywhere close to the power of a pureblood vampire. Most nobles intermarry with other noble lineages or possibly even pureblood lineages in order to increase their political power and maintain their high blood purity and noble status (above 50% purity).

Mental Characteristics

Noble vampires inherit the mental characteristics of whatever their non-vampiric lineage is.

Magic

Unlike other vampires, noble vampires are able to cast [ Power III - Control I ] elemental magic of a single fixed element which is randomly determined at birth.

History

The first noble vampires were a result of pureblood vampires marrying humans during the ancestral era, the resulting offspring being the first lesser vampires and also barely classifying as a noble vampire by today's standards (only 50% blood purity). It would not be until centuries later in vampiric history that a power structure formed and the notion of status became ever more important among vampire society. The first true noble vampires that were officially recognized for their high blood purity did not arise until after pureblood vampires started playing power games against other pureblood lineages. This resulted in lesser noble vampires intermarrying with pureblood vampires to raise their lineage's blood purity above 50%, and thus creating the original noble caste. Back then only vampires with a blood purity above 80% were considered true nobles, often taking several generations to achieve since it was not guaranteed for a noble vampire lineage to gain favor with a pureblood vampire. After the devastating power games, the required blood purity to be of noble caste was dropped to 50% to respect the direct offspring of pureblood vampires, whom have become more revered after their numbers plummeted.

Assorted Info

  • While mixed lineage noble vampires are possible, they are incredibly rare and almost all noble vampires are of purely human descent.
