Skaeggen Tundra

The Skaeggen Tundra is a harsh winter landscape with very few natural resources. The native skaegs constantly fight the elements as well as each other, in order to survive in this punishing region.

History

This region was generally avoided for all of human history. An innate lack of resources along with the harsh conditions and hostile skaegs have made this region completely undesirable to almost every nation currently known.

Geography

The Skaeggen Tundra is, for the most part, a barren landscape. There are small patches of evergreens which cover the landscape, which itself is devoid of any abundant plant life. The region is covered in ice and snow for most of the year, only melting and allowing plant life to flourish for two months out of the year. Game is sparse, and so are predators. The region is prone to getting nasty blizzards with very strong winds. Only the strongest survive here, a fact which deters most people from ever considering visiting the region.

Politics and Demographics

The various skaeggen clans of the region constantly fight each other for resources and territory. Their mandate is survival of the strongest, and will only acknowledge those they consider strong. This has made diplomacy with the kingdoms south of the region futile.

Skaeggen Tundra Demographics Human 99% The skaegs living in the region are a brutal and unforgiving people who believe in survival of the strongest. Most of the weak links in their society get killed off in early childhood, leaving only the strongest individuals. They are also prone to raiding neighboring settlements and have lately been venturing south in search of potential settlements to raid. Other 1% Very few races besides the hardiest of humans have managed to survive living in the region. There are a few vampires which have managed to adapt and blend into skaeggen society.
