Southern Raevelic Plains

The Lower Raevelic Plains is best known for being the home of the Kingdom of Rivera. It is mainly a vast expanse of sparsely forested grassland and farmland, with the occasional town and village. A complex road network connects the various settlements of the region, which has made the region a hot spot for aspiring travelling merchants. These lands have seen many conflicts, between fellow humans as well as vampires. The central headquarters of the Order of the Crimson Guard is also located in Rivera, capitol of the region as well as the Kingdom of Rivera. Being the royal province, the majority of the land is owned by various noble families whom vie for power and control. In recent times there has been little conflict, but the infamous reputation of the noble stratum in Rivera ensure that it will not remain so for long.

History

The majority of the region was once covered by the ancient forest, but was rapidly cleared after the rapid expansion of exodian society. The small human settlements along the coastline started expanding inwards, increasing humanity's influence over the region. After the fall of Exodia, many human refugees began flooding into the region from the Exodian Peninsula. The land was still fertile and resources had not yet been exhausted, making recovery after the exodian cataclysm fairly rapid.

Following the collapse of the exodian political hierarchy, the various human settlements of the area formed separate kingdoms as they rebuilt from the rubble of their former cities. These kingdoms were ultimately conquered or annexed into the Kingdom of Rivera, with the whole region being unified as early as 1257 AE.

Lower Raevelic Plains Demographics Human 90% Exodian survivors started pouring into the region almost immediately following the cataclysm. The region was far richer in resources and less dangerous then the barren Exodian Peninsula at the time, allowing for steadier growth. In present times there is a very large population of humans, ranking second only to the Empire of Equestris. Vampire 2% Vampires in the royal province are few in number and keep their movements well hidden. Constant surveillance by vampire hunters has made the region very dangerous for any vampire whom is not associated with the black market. A large concentration of noble vampires in the area has made the region very important to vampiric society. Other 8% The lower plains marks the heartland of the Kingdom of Rivera, and hosts a variety of races from across Amestria. Dwarves and Aesiri are the most common, followed by Sylfae and the occasional Centaur. There are even some Fairies living here.
