Physical Characteristics

The centaur consist on a horse body and a human torso and head. The sharp transition between the characteristics of a horse and human suggest that the race was created by unnatural means. Centaurs possess the same stamina as horses along with the same intellect as humans. They also live for the same amount of time as humans, and mature and age in the same manner. They are omnivores like humans, and require a balanced intake of different food types to survive. Their human torso is more vulnerable to extreme temperatures than their horse body, compelling them to wear clothing over their upper half. They are the only sentient race to possess 4 legs and 2 arms, granting them unprecedented mobility and dexterity. Their upper body will almost always have a muscular appearance, and their upper body strength is greater then that of a human. Despite the greatly enhanced capacity of their lungs and very loud breathing, they are capable of speaking in the same pitch as their human counterparts due to very unique physiology. Centaur eye colors have the same range as humans, while their hair color will reflect the color of their fur coat on their lower body. Spotted and varied patterns on their fur coat will also extend to their hair color. Their skin color has the same potential range as normal humans. Centaurs cannot channel any form of magic.

Mental Characteristics

Centaurs are just as intelligent as humans, but are driven by a primal desire to explore and track down new sources of food and places to temporarily lodge. They have a hard time staying still for extended periods, almost always being on the move. They have an aversion to superficial concepts such as complex politics, law systems, music, and even art, preferring direct interaction with the world they live in. Centaur cure their boredom by constantly being on the move and discovering new places and beings.

History

The centaur race was believed to be a gift from Celestia to human rangers who were particularly attracted to the wild. The exact origins of the centaur are a mystery, but their culture points to them always being nomadic and at no point ever founding a civilization of their own. Originally they inhabited a larger portion of the Exodius continent, but as civilizations continued to expand they were forced to recede further inland. In modern times they can be mainly found inhabiting regions of the Arcadian Wilderness.

Society

Most of the centaur race can be described as nomadic and tribal by nature. They have no use for anything superficial, even their clothing is purely functional rarely lacking any element of style. They are driven to constantly move from one place to another, discovering more about the world they live in without getting caught up in the details. Many centaur are seasoned adventurers who are experienced in tracking, trailblazing, land navigation, and survival. These adventurers regularly interact with other races to obtain armor, weapons, and supplies that will aid them in their ventures. Most centaur live off the land via hunting and foraging.

Technology

While centaur may not possess any technology in the general sense, they do have hunting, foraging, land navigation, survival, and tracking techniques that are far more effective then any other race. Even the most powerful magic users have a hard time matching the centaur's effectiveness in these areas.
